Excerpts from BeingKind - A Brave New Race:
Koena possessed a bright smile and eyes of amber which were genetically given to the beings of the region. He had defined lines around his eyes and mouth and deep furrows above his brow. As I would come to know him, I realized that those wonderful lines he flaunted were from the happiness he embraced. Beings from the Bhutan region did not believe in cosmetically enhancing their looks. Vanity was not a trait they encouraged nor wanted. "Accept what our environment brings forth to us" was a motto they lived by. I had never seen so much expression on one's face before. I would find in Bhutan that the faces of annuals ninety and greater had a story to tell, and I wanted them to share it with me.
